Would you go to see the new X-Files Movie?

X Files

I am not sure if X-Files: I Want To Believe will be shown in cinemas in Pakistan, but if it does, is it worth the trouble?

Movielicious has reviewed the movie recently and there seems to be all around disappointment.

Sure its good to see Mulder and Dana together. Sure they fit back in to their roles with ease. Sure there is some good dialogue. You can’t take away the credit there. But other than that, it’s like eating a three day old pizza from your mom’s fridge.

The site has given the movie a ranking of 4 out of 10 claiming it would have been better if this was a winter or autumn release instead of in the summers where so many mega block busters are competing for glory.

Sorry, but there are no little green men or abductions to speak of. I guess all the aliens left on that space ship at the end of the first movie. Sad. Also lacking is anything remotely supernatural. Sadder.

I’m not a fan of xFiles but if the movie is without aliens and creatures following a ‘a case that is right out of the C.S.I crime drama’, then is it worth it?

Ramchand Pakistani premiers August 1

Ramchand Pakistani

Mehreen Jabbar’s much awaited ‘Ramchand Pakistani‘ will makes its debut simultaneously in Pakistani and Indian cinemas on August 1. This will be, so far, only the second time that a movie will be released in the two countries on the same date. The first one ever to attain this was Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal back in November last year.

The film portrays the story of a family torn apart as a father follows his son who had accidentally strayed across the border into India, and both get captured by the Indian authorities. Nandita Das from the acclaimed hits of the 1990s like Fire (1996) and Earth (1998 ) plays the Pakistani mother struggling for their freedom, and mourning their long absence. This story is said to be based on true events.

The film features many prominent Pakistani actors such as Rashid Farooqi, Noman Ijaz, Maria Wasti, Shahood Alvi, Tipu, Adarsh Ayaz, Saleem Mairaj, and of course the our little star, Syed Fazal Hussain who plays Ramchand.

Get Smart ‘out smarts’ at US BOX Office

Have you seen the new INCREDIBLE HULK that is being shown around in major Pakistani cinemas? You think its THE thing eh? Perhaps you’re right but it’s still not making enough dough when it’s put to the test at the US Box Office!

GET SMART, the new movie starring former wrestler, The Rock (The Game Plan, The Mummy Returns), Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, Havoc), and Steve Carell (The Office, Evan Almighty) has outnumbered other giants like The HULK, Kung Fu Panda and so on. Currently, in its opening week, the movie took over $ 39 million in sales!

Here are the top 5:

1- Get Smart [$ 39 Million]

2- Kung Fu Panda [$ 21.7 Million]

3- The Incredible Hulk [$ 21.6 Million]

4- The Love Guru [$ 14 Million]

5- The Happening [$ 10 Million]

Spiderman-Iron Man-Hulk – Purely Awesome Clip!

About two months ago, BLUR studios came up with this brilliant idea of making a cgi clip featuring Spiderman, Iron Man, and the Hulk!

I don’t know if the real motive behind this was to either promote upcoming flicks of these super heroes or to promote comics per say or to give us a taste of what The Avengers movie might look like or to market the video game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance! It could be all of them combined or none!

But one thing is for certain!

This short clip kicks ass! Spiderman’s 4 minute or so on this clip is a million times cooler than his three movies combined! Iron Man looks awesome and as for Hulk, this has got to be the best appearance of the incredible green ever!

If this is how they are going to make the Avenger movie then believe you me, it would be the super-hero movie of the century!

Watch them in all their glory below:

From Jay To Juggan

Everyone knows who Juggan Kazim is. She’s a hot favorite among guys. She’s a model, a mother, and a media personality.

But do you know Jay Kazim?

Maybe… or not!

If you do then hey good for you. If you don’t then don’t feel left out because this year you’ll get to see her in a re-release of an Anglo-Indian production called Sweet Destiny. Actually the movie has been around since 2005 but back then it was titled Pink Ludoos! Does that ring any bells?

Jay or Juggan Kazim (as most of us commonly know of her as) plays the leading lady in the movie as a free-spirited and seemingly rather quite horny girl who ends up getting pregnant with not one… not two… but triplets! Eat that Juno! And the story goes as it typically does that she gets abandoned by her family and she is left on her own to take care of the matter she has gotten her self in to on a hot and heavy night.

It’s funny. How come we never really heard about this so much? I think I found the answer myself when I viewed the trailer of Pink Ludoos. The opening scene is a car shaking violently with moans and groans in the background. Juggan and a guy are seen ‘getting in the mood’ for some ‘fun’.

A-HA!

I asked a few of my friends from here and there and one of them said she had seen the movie some years back and that it was simply idiotic a notion that it was compared to the likes of Bend It Like Beckham. ‘Just cuz Jay’s mom’s character is played by the same actress who played the mother’s role in BILB doesn’t mean it is in the same league’ she said over a chat session last night.

So our Juggan darling gets to jiggle in a car, smooch her way around and ends up with triplets! (I know I am repeating the facts but I can’t get over the triplets part! It’s beginning to sound all too comical. Did they think using three instead of one child would give the movie more ”weight’?

I don’t know from where to get my hands on Sweet Destiny. It’s prolly not yet available in Pakistan. Good luck wishing this one to be reeled in on Pakistani cinemas!

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Fashion Drama

It’s bad enough when someone else wears the same dress as you but when you’re a style icon it’s a disaster- ask Sarah Jessica Parker.

The actress was mortified when she discovered the Nina Ricci dress she for the New York premiere of the Sex and the City movie had already had a red carpet outing.

Sarah told the New York Times that Theyskens assured her that the dress had not been wore before.

My affection for the dress hasn’t changed,” she explained, “but what they did was so short-sighted. It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.

You tell ’em girl!!

Archiving Pakistan’s Cinema History – A helping hand of a Frenchman

Philippe Jalladeau, a French researcher of cinematography has been awe-struck after watching Shoaib Mansoor’s ‘Khuda Kay Liye’ thrice.

The researcher, on a mission to promote and archive films from across the globe, has already proved to be a very useful element for Pakistan’s cinema revival. He has helped promote “Jago Hua Savera“, a 1958 classic that won Pakistan a prize at the Moscow Film Festival.

Not only does Jalladeau plan to produce copies of this epic movie but also aims at building a proper archive for the Pakistani cinema

Do you know Pakistan is one of the few countries that doesn’t have a proper archive? Bangladesh has one, even Afghanistan has an archive, so why not Pakistan!

He also intends to lecture Pakistani students on cinema and make a feature film by collaborating with them.
