Suicide bombers hit a bus carrying intelligence agency employees and a checkpoint near the headquarters of the Pakistan army (GHQ) this morning, killing at least 35 people.
Rawalpindi, a garrison city just south of the capital, Islamabad is the strategic hub of Pakistan Army. News channels and various sources are reporting that at least 35 people were killed but details are still sketchy and the death toll is likely to rise.
In the first attack, an explosive-laden car rammed a bus carrying employees from the Inter-Services Intelligence agency, while the other bomber hit the checkpoint at Gate no 7 of the GHQ.
According to the statement given to Dawn News by Major General Waheed Arshad, a bus carrying defense ministry personnel was attacked and a car exploded near the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters Office in Rawalpindi.
