Kiwis crush Kenya, South Africa outclass Scotland

New Zealand defeated Kenya by an impressive margin of 148 runs in their group ‘C’ World Cup match to qualify for the super-8 stage here today.

Set an improbable target of 332 to win, Kenya fought bravely to took their score to 183 in 49.2 overs. Ravindu Shah, scored 71 off 89 balls with eight fours and one six and Thomas Odoyu made 42 runs off 67 balls with four boundaries and two sixers.

New Zealand 331/7 (50 ov) / Kenya 183 (49.2 ov)

New Zealand won by 148 runs

South Africa has qualified for the super-8 stage by registering a seven-wicket win over Scotland in their group ‘A’ match here today.

They achieved the winning target of 187 in just 23.2 overs for the loss of only three wickets. Captain Graeme Smith scored 91 off 65 deliveries with 13 fours and one six.

Scotland 186/8 (50 overs) / South Africa 188/3 (23.2 overs)

South Africa won by 7 wickets
