Imran Khan facing Terror Charges in Jail

He may be the legendary hero of Pakistan Cricket but the former cricket captain is now in the middle of a different ball game. Yestarday saw Imran Khan being manhandled by the IJT activists while he surfaced after hiding from the authoroties ever since the Emergency was declared in Pakistan. An hour later, after nogotations between the IJT members and the police, he was handed in to protective custody. He was then moved to Lahore’s biggest prison early Thursday after being charged under anti-terror laws for protesting against emergency rule.Under this charge, he can be punished of at least seven years and up to life in prison.

Lahore police chief Malik Mohammad Iqbal said after Khan was arrested that he would be charged for inciting people to pick up arms, calling for civil disobedience and “spreading hatred.” Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to cricket World Cup glory in 1992, had called for President Pervez Musharraf to face the death penalty after the military ruler imposed emergency rule on November 3.

He was put under house arrest but slipped the net and had been in hiding — communicating via email and video — until Wednesday, when he reappeared at a university campus in the eastern city of Lahore.

“I want the students to be mobilised, as well as the lawyers and the political parties, because it has to be a comprehensive movement against the brute force of a military dictator. I came to the university to lead a rally of students against the dictator and his illegal actions,” Imran said from police custody. “I have achieved my purpose by starting the student movement!”

Punjab University IJT Nazim Muhammad Ayub told reporters that Imran was taken to the CHEP building for his own safety and denied allegations of manhandling.

Imran forgot to evaluate the characteristics of a moulvi. A moulvi will always stabs in the back, what jamaiet moulvis have done with Imran for some hundred or thousand U.S dollars.
Lesson learnt: For God’s sake never trust Moulvis and Americans.

Locking him up at least removes the chance that he can incite more violence in Pakistan. That alone is enough for me.

this should be a good lesson for him on Pakistani politics. JI did this to get into the good books of JUI(F) in order to keep the MMA intact and get back to power again. Let me make another prediction over here, he will boycott the elections because he can see the writing on the wall. “Defeat”.

Leader or no leader this is no way to treat a national hero. he has done a lot of good work for Pakistan too and he doesn’t deserve to be treated this way by the JI goons. I feel sorry for him.

“I want the students to be mobilised”
in other words ‘i am a p**** and ran away to hide myself and now i want the youth of this country to stop studying and protest and create chaos on my behalf. Seriously Imran Khan needs to get a life. I always thought he was better than the rest of our twisted politicians but he is the same pig as they are.

this is very sad indeed, i wonder if jamiat jerks will treat qazi husain ahmed and molana fazal-ur-rehman the same way.. imran khan by now shud understand tht the moulvis are not an entity to trust, it seems the jamiat jerks didnt want anyone else`s influence inside the university however imran khan had no protocol and no protection that realy indicates that he didnt have any bad intentions but the jamiat jerks hav acted just like MqM who wont let him in KHI… i hope they dont hurt him cause he is one of the people who dont own steel mills, dont hav swiss accounts and surey palace and dont hav the deisel import under his influence (molana fazal-ur-rehman) and are not a part of the land mafia!!

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than
just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and everything.
Nevertheless think about if you added some great photos or video clips to give
your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with images and
clips, this site could definitely be one of the very best in
    its field. Fantastic blog!
