Pakistan congratulates Iran on decision to release 15 British sailors

Pakistan welcomed the Iranian decision to release British sailors and termed it a “statesman-like decision” of President Ahmedinejad.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Khurshid M Kasuri telephoned his Iranian counterpart Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki and congratulated him on the decision, said a press release.

The British government had asked Pakistan government to play a helpful role in this connection and Pakistan had made necessary contacts at a high level following that request.

Foreign Minister Mottaki thanked Foreign Minister Kasuri and told him that Iran valued Pakistans friendship as well as its advice, it said. The two Foreign Ministers also discussed Iran-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline project as well.
