Eklavya: ek lav kya?

I was willing to watch this movie in the cinema and pay my precious 8 euros and 70 cents for it. But then suddenly my brother told me that he has already downloaded the movie via Torrents so we can watch it on the computer, I didn’t wanted to though. No why would I? It’s a new movie of Saif Ali Khan and Viday Bhalan! I love them both to bits! I have to watch that movie in the cinema! O well.. I was kind of too late, so yeh computer it is.

Eklavya, The Royal Guard. What a name. You can guess that it’s from the same director of Parineeta, Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The mysterious name, the time zone, the background of the picture, the way of advertising, the darkness and sadness in and around the movie theme… and so much more. Though don’t be shocked, when you find out that this movie is nothing compared to Parineeta.

Yes, it is a total disappointment. This movie hurt me more than Nishabd did. Mainly because I expected so much more from Vidhu and also from Saif and Vidya. They really disappointed me. I fell asleep whilst watching the movie! I never did that before during Vidya’s movies! Parineeta, a movie based on a book (not a Western book, but our own desi book), got so much positive response, awards, nominations, especially because of the music and the newcomer Vidya Balan. Vidhu was very proud and happy. I bet he is crying in a corner right now. Your own fault Vidhu!

Back to Eklavya. The movie starts off pretty interesting… Saif comes.. his mother dies… he finds out a big secret… and another person dies… what now……..? Well nothing. That’s it actually. After the last death, the revenge comes and they all live happily ever after.

Yes, I can’t believe it either. Such a shame. Such a brilliant cast, Saif Ali Khan, his mother Sharmila Tagore, Vidya Balan, the Big B Amitabh Bachan, Jackie Shroff, but what was the use of having a cast like this, if the movie is crap? They should’ve used new comers, at least they coudl’ve prevented the damage of the great Bollywood stars. But then again, no matter how many crap movies great Bollywood stars, i.e. Saif or Amitabh, make, they will always be superstars…. Ironic isn’t it? Or is that what we call ‘politics’?

UNDERSTAND THIS!
