Pak-vs-WI. Stage set for World Cup opener

At 6:00 pm (Pakistan Standard Time), 1992 world cup winners Pakistan and the host nation West Indies will go head to head in the first match of World Cup 2007 at Sabine Park in Jamaica.

Team West Indies will be stepping in the field with a track record of five wins out of seven against Pakistan in the World Cup matches, as well as having beaten them both times in previous one-dayers in Jamaica.

Pakistan seems to have warmed up well after their 77-run victory over Canada followed by an impressive win by seven wickets over South Africa in the two warm-up matches. But Pakistan’s captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is keeping a cool head about things.

“That can happen at any time and it doesn’t mean we should underestimate the West Indies side. We will just play the game as it comes.”

An interesting fact to keep in mind is that no host nation in the history of Cricket World Cup has ever won the title. Will this happen yet again or will West Indies be able to set a record of three World Cup Wins as well as break this myth?

It will all be known soon enough!

UNDERSTAND THIS!

DEMOCRACY DON'T RULE THE WORLD, YOU'D BETTER GET THAT IN YOUR HEAD; THIS WORLD IS RULED BY VIOLENCE, BUT I GUESS THAT'S BETTER LEFT UNSAID - Bob Dylan: American folksinger.
