There you go! I least expected to hear this news but there it is!
According to a news in Pak Tribune today, the current government is considering closing down petrol pumps across the country for one day every week! And that’s just not it. In order to ‘effectively’ ration petroleum products, consumers will not be allowed to purchase 15-20 liters of petrol and diesel in one go from one petrol pump!
I can literally imagine the ugly scenarios that will unfold if this policy comes in to play!
Consumer: Fill my car up, please!
Petrol Station Worker: No can do! Don’t you know you can not have more than 20 liters in one go? Get 20 from here and drive to another to get another 20 and so on till your car is full!
or
Consumer: Oh no, I’m running low on fuel. Must get more!
(after thought)…oh sh*t, it’s the weekly holiday for petrol pumps! I’m dead meat!
I don’t know about you but I sure am considering installing a petrol tank right next to the water tank on my roof top!
This government has gone nuts! If it wasn’t enough that they are considering the king of corruption aka Zardari as the next President, introducing such policies is an open invitation to the over-emotional nation that we are to frustrated looting!
Oh and did I mention that they also might not shift the time back one hour after August for energy conservation reasons? That means even longer fasts!
As Shehzad Roy rightly said in his recent song, Laga Reh:
Mujhay fikr yeh nahi kay yeh mulk kaisay chalega.
Mujhe fikr yeh hai kay kaheen aisay hee na chalta rahay!
Translation:
[ I'm not worried about how this country will run. I'm worried about it running wild! ]
Zardari, Nawaz and co… LAGA REH! *chuckles*

Hahahahahahahahaha
Man this government doesn’t have a brain
This will not help the shortage of petrol or diesel in the country
Just like the daylight saving had no effect on the electricity shortage
also I think all the petrol people will not comply
just like the gas stations are not complying with the government prices
This country is seriously screwed now
If this news was not from a reliable website like PakTribune, I would have called it crap. This is completely stupid move. What are they thinking? Instead of taking us ahead, we are being pushed back to the last century
Holy cow! Is this even true?
wese u got the translation wrong halfway! I suppose we’ll have to buy extra cng cylinders and keep em at home for back up then…
WTF? thts insane! We already have to face a shortage of Petrol in Pshawar. The other day i had to drive some 20 miles to get to a petrol pump that SOLD petrol.Insane, inhumane!
Why are you all so surprised? Did you actually think that things would get back to to normal if Mush leaves? wrong. Things are only going to turn up worse. You want to know why? Because we elected the worst of our kinds as our leaders. Yes, WE! You, me, they, and them. We all threw in our towels, wore blind folds and jumped off the cliff believing that these leaders are going to save us. History has tried to teach us so much but we, as ignorant and naive as we are (or tend to be on purpose) will keep doing the wrong things. Even if this policy does not come in to effect, you can be certain that there will be more surprises with this government.
Sallam-o-alaikum!
As far as I know the FASTs are never observed with the Pakistan Standard Time or any other clock. These are observed by Allah SWT’s clock that is from before-dawn to sunset. Could you care to explain how the fast will be longer if the time is not set.
Currently, the times for sunset and sunrise are:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=106
If you clock were changed back one hour the timings would have been (for sept 1)
5:41am – 6:33pm.
I am willing to see other comments on this.
