Samad Khurram - Public vs Private

Samad Khurram: A PUBLIC HERO? OR A CHILDISH ACTIVIST KNOWN FOR SPREADING HATRED TOWARDS THE COUNTRY, SENDING DEATH THREATS AND EXPLICIT EMAILS TO ALL WHO DISAGREE WITH HIS VIEWS?

IS HE A SAINT OR THE DEVIL’s PUPPET?

They say controversy follows fame.

They also say that your past can come back in your face one day!

The same might become true for Samad khurram in the eyes of many who believe it was unbecoming of him to snub a US Ambassador in public by rejecting the award (with no monetary value attached) and yet accept the Harvard scholarship.

Without sharing any judgements of my own on whether it was right or wrong of him to do so, I cite below some recent news about Mr. Khurram whereby another (ugly) part of his life has come to light.

After his recent act of defiance which was hailed by many as ‘brave’ and ‘patriotic’, Samad Khurram is now being accused of stalking a Lahore-based female lawyer by the name of Yasmeen Ali. Samad allegedly sent life-threatening emails to Yasmeen and as she shares the details of the events, it gets to be known that Harvard was indeed notified of his threatening motives and a certain ‘action’ was taken against him by the university as well. Evidently, Samad and another Pakistani national by the name of Aqil Sajid went as far as impersonating Miss Yasmeen Ali and posted sexually explicit posts on various forums/blogs as well.

Another news post titled: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, talks about how Samad has been setting up fake email ids to send offensive emails using‘an unusually grotesque and filthy language to any Pakistani citizen who happened to disagree with their views on the lawyers and the President.’

Yet another news post by a Pakistani student who was also at the award ceremony with Samad Khurram states that it was very disrespectful of Samad to do what he did. She writes:

Calling the president of the country unconstitutional on an educational forum is not right, as many may disagree with this stance [including me].

As for the U.S, we disagree with their policies, we are angered by their response towards Pakistan, but we do realize that their education is amongst the best in the world, and that is why we still go to that country to get it. We should not forget that Mohammad Ali Jinnah himself got his education in the very Britain against which he later fought for independence. Our hostility is towards their policies, not their education, and if we want to give ourselves half a chance against them, we need to embrace this education, and not construct walls which will hinder future prospective students from going abroad.

There is an endless array of news and posts about him that have surfaced recently. Some I have quoted above. Following are some of of the most prominent ones I came across:

Harvard Probed Samad Khurram For Stalking A Lahore Lady Lawyer
Laila Sohail: We’re No Less Patriotic Than Samad Khurram
Blog Politics: Lady Gets Abused For Showing The Other Side Of Samad Khurram Story
A ‘Roots’ Student, An Italian Lady On Snubbing Anne Patterson

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

As mentioned earlier, I shall refrain from sharing my personal opinion on these recent findings. I leave it to you, the WeCite Blog readers, to decide that in the light of these accusations from his past, does he deserve to be a hero or not.

If u don’t have any guts to do something near to what samad had done.. than i think you should keep your shameless and dirty views with your self

you should be ashamed of your self before posting such a post.
This shows how much you are jealous with samad.

atleast samad had done something which our top most ranked politicians will never think about to do.

My dear friend, perhaps you did not read the post completely. The entire post reflects on the views and opinions of OTHERS who have dismissed his act as that of a mere stupidity. WeCite on the other hand has already appreciated his stand in an earlier post and we still commend him for what he did.

This post is simply to show the readers what else is in news about Samad. It is not a propaganda scheme to defame him but unlike our commercial media like GEO, we aim to give both sides of the picture to our readers. It is up to them (just like you) to decide which side to support.

    Happy reading :)

I just knew there had to be something more than what meets the eye with this guy.

This is for nouman and any one else who is about to harbour similar misunderstandings. Please note that WeCite had received several emails with links to similar snapshots of mail conversations and forum/blog postings by Samad that support this post. We decided not to give our personal judgement on this matter because it is a very sensitive issue with everyone now-a-days. We don’t take the responsibility of making him a hero one day and a villian the next. We only want everyone to see what we have seen and have their say on it. Thank you.

What Samad did that day with the US representative has made many people upset. It was the wrong place to drag in politics and hatred for America. The occasion was to honour our students and for the proud parents to see their children receive recognition. He should not have made it a political statement.

I don’t have the slightest doubt about his (samad’s) credibility. Samad should see this and respond.

All things said, these accusations are from his past. If we are not to judge him by his bold action alone then we should not judge him on this too. If any one has proof that all this is not true then please share it.

don’t u all think we are making him a bigger hero or villain than he possibly is?

  11. 11 Haris June 28, 2008 at 12:59 am

    simply pathetic!!!

This exactly shows the psyche of Pakistanis. we will make each and everyone controversial. we even proved edhi to be a jewish agent.

come on guys wake up and grow up. no one is a saint or flawless. you can find something bad in anyone’s life.

we are waiting for someone without any blemish to save us.

  12. 12 SAWJ June 28, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Only, we can’t stop finding bad in this one’s!

I think we should encourage our youth, ok for a moment it is admitted he sent that email to a lawyer. There is no his personal motive. He is a young, with the passage of time his agression will be reduce. But we should appriciate what he done the other day. Musharraf on one ‘yes’ changed the course of the country, we still be the victims of his ‘yes’. But this guy has courage to act like this. Every Pakistani appreciates his courage.
Khurran u’ve done a tremendous job.

Samad Khurram has done a very bad thing.
    Very disappointing.
Lets us prevent such actions from occuring again.
