Pakistan At War – A Theatrical Ploy!

A peace deal with the likes of Taliban is futile. It has not worked in the past and it can not work in the present circumstances either. It was a matter of time when the democratic government of Pakistan, threw back the responsibility on the shoulders of Pakistan Army.

Pakistan is at War ladies and gentlemen! But then again, it has been for quite some time now, in case you did not notice!

I’m sorry but wasn’t it this very government that was against the ‘answer bullet by a bullet’ approach in the first place? Aren’t the same people who chanted about peace and dialogue now taking a back seat and have given empowering control to the Chief of Army Staff, General Kiyani?

Why?

Don’t you democratic people have any thing up your sleeve to resolve this matter any differently than the President was trying to do for the past few years? Or have you really gone as low and shallow as putting the military in the fore-front and divulging yourself from all responsibility whatsoever?

The recent decision to give control back to the Armed forces has not only exposed the weak infrastructure of the coalition government, but has also proved once and for all that those in power are more concerned with their personal gains and the yearning for revenge than seriously addressing a matter of national security.

Peshawar could fall to Taliban in a matter of months!

The threat to our national security could not get chiller than this!

A news post in the Daily Times says: “The Taliban are no longer at the gates of Peshawar, they’re inside, making their presence felt in the largest city in the NWFP. “

Fazlur Rehman, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief has warned that it is only a matter of few months when news of the entire NWFP slipping out of the government’s control will come.

News is pouring on about para-military commandos being deployed on border with Khyber Agency to protect the provincial capital from a Taliban attack. Their numbers are said to be around 1,500. Yet another anti-terrorist force of 7,000 men is being raised to counter the creeping insurgency.

Meanwhile, the government, all too busy with their long marches and restoration of so called democracy and justice, is lingering on with their useless peace talks with Taliban. Right! Let me get this straight. The very people you have a peace talk with then go back and burn ski resorts like one in Malam Jabba to ground or execute some 20 odd peace activists. The very same people are roaming around in Peshawar, brandishing their AK-47s and threatening people to follow their distorted and abnormal version of Islam… or face the consequences. The local police is helpless and slowly but surely, Taliban are gaining control. The amount of time that they buy with talks, they focus on multiplying their numbers. So sad that it is ever so hard for our public or politicians to see.

I wonder everyday why there is never a single protest against the Taliban? Why are our oh-so-patriotic students, lawyers, politicians, and journalists alike not raising hue and cry about an enemy that threatens the very existence of the country and is knocking on our door steps? Are they part of the consipiracy too? Or are they being led blindly by a few who are using them to gain their personal goals. Such a shame.

Let me tell all those upholders of democracy and justice. Be as it may, your ’struggles’ for Pakistan’s freedom will be like flushed toilet material if Taliban start roaming in Islamabad! Forget your democracy and justice and media then. Because neither do they believe in legal courts, nor do they believe in your governmental setup and they certainly do not appreciate the media! So you can kiss all your efforts goodbye!

Open your eyes! See the big picture and if you want to protest, put this on your agenda too! Otherwise, pretty soon, Taliban will deny you the right to protest either!

Blackberries: even a 3-yr old can operate them!!!

From Yahoo News

Three year old Madelyn Eaves was able to get rescuers to her mother with the help of a little song and her mother’s BlackBerry.

Jessica Eaves taught the song “911 green” to her daughter in case of emergencies. When she collapsed from a condition called vasovogal syncope, Madelyn dialed 911 and hit the green call button, then was able to direct dispatchers to the house using descriptions of her surroundings. The year before, Madelyn had gotten help with another little song, “green green green.” When Jessica collapsed, Madelyn repeated the steps, which called the last person Jessica had dialed and allowed them to get help.

It’s certainly nice to know BlackBerries are so easy to use, and a very ingenious idea from a dedicated mother.

Samad Khurram – Public vs Private

Samad Khurram: A PUBLIC HERO? OR A CHILDISH ACTIVIST KNOWN FOR SPREADING HATRED TOWARDS THE COUNTRY, SENDING DEATH THREATS AND EXPLICIT EMAILS TO ALL WHO DISAGREE WITH HIS VIEWS?

IS HE A SAINT OR THE DEVIL’s PUPPET?

They say controversy follows fame.

They also say that your past can come back in your face one day!

The same might become true for Samad khurram in the eyes of many who believe it was unbecoming of him to snub a US Ambassador in public by rejecting the award (with no monetary value attached) and yet accept the Harvard scholarship.

Without sharing any judgements of my own on whether it was right or wrong of him to do so, I cite below some recent news about Mr. Khurram whereby another (ugly) part of his life has come to light.

Asia Cup 2008 – Epic Battle with Front-liners Missing!

Come June 23rd, and the cricket frenzy will once again hit Asia like a thunder-bolt!

This time… It will be the ASIA CUP 2008!

Although the line-up of contestants for the glory include minows like Hong Kong, U.A.E and the underdogs Bangladesh… the real battle is a three way, horns-locking, rampage of the titans: Pakistan – India – Sri Lanka!

By no means will this event be over-shadowed by the heat waves engulfing the host nation Pakistan these days. Players and fans alike will push the thought of sweating profusely under the sun aside and draw battle lines in this epic tournament.

On paper, all three are equally balanced and a force to reckon with. Unfortunately, by sheer coincidence, the three giants are all missing their front line attackers as well! Continue reading ‘Asia Cup 2008 – Epic Battle with Front-liners Missing!’

Naming everything Bhutto

Read this Daily Times news. Aren’t our leaders getting a tad bit carried away with BB’s 55th Birth Anniversary? What will be next? Renaming Islamic republic of Pakistan to Bhutto Republic of Pakistan?

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday announced that Islamabad airport, Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) and Murree Road would be named after former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairwoman. Islamabad International Airport will now be called Benazir Bhutto International Airport, the RGH Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Murree Road Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Road, said a statement issued by the prime minister’s secretariat

Spiderman-Iron Man-Hulk – Purely Awesome Clip!

About two months ago, BLUR studios came up with this brilliant idea of making a cgi clip featuring Spiderman, Iron Man, and the Hulk!

I don’t know if the real motive behind this was to either promote upcoming flicks of these super heroes or to promote comics per say or to give us a taste of what The Avengers movie might look like or to market the video game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance! It could be all of them combined or none!

But one thing is for certain!

This short clip kicks ass! Spiderman’s 4 minute or so on this clip is a million times cooler than his three movies combined! Iron Man looks awesome and as for Hulk, this has got to be the best appearance of the incredible green ever!

If this is how they are going to make the Avenger movie then believe you me, it would be the super-hero movie of the century!

Watch them in all their glory below:

55th Birth Anniversary of Benazir Bhutto tomorrow

Pakistan will issue special stamps and souvenir posters tomorrow to mark the 55th birth anniversary of slain former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto.  Sindh government has already declared Saturday to be a public holiday as it is her home province.

The Rs 4 stamps and Rs 20 posters will be available at post offices across the country from June 21, Bhutto’s birth anniversary.

PPP workers, led by party Chairman and Bhutto’s widower Asif Ali Zardari, will donate blood to mark the day. The party has issued strict instructions that there should be no celebrations and cake cutting to mark the anniversary.

The main function will be held at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi, where Bhutto was assassinated after addressing an election rally on December 27, 2007.

From Jay To Juggan

Everyone knows who Juggan Kazim is. She’s a hot favorite among guys. She’s a model, a mother, and a media personality.

But do you know Jay Kazim?

Maybe… or not!

If you do then hey good for you. If you don’t then don’t feel left out because this year you’ll get to see her in a re-release of an Anglo-Indian production called Sweet Destiny. Actually the movie has been around since 2005 but back then it was titled Pink Ludoos! Does that ring any bells?

Jay or Juggan Kazim (as most of us commonly know of her as) plays the leading lady in the movie as a free-spirited and seemingly rather quite horny girl who ends up getting pregnant with not one… not two… but triplets! Eat that Juno! And the story goes as it typically does that she gets abandoned by her family and she is left on her own to take care of the matter she has gotten her self in to on a hot and heavy night.

It’s funny. How come we never really heard about this so much? I think I found the answer myself when I viewed the trailer of Pink Ludoos. The opening scene is a car shaking violently with moans and groans in the background. Juggan and a guy are seen ‘getting in the mood’ for some ‘fun’.

A-HA!

I asked a few of my friends from here and there and one of them said she had seen the movie some years back and that it was simply idiotic a notion that it was compared to the likes of Bend It Like Beckham. ‘Just cuz Jay’s mom’s character is played by the same actress who played the mother’s role in BILB doesn’t mean it is in the same league’ she said over a chat session last night.

So our Juggan darling gets to jiggle in a car, smooch her way around and ends up with triplets! (I know I am repeating the facts but I can’t get over the triplets part! It’s beginning to sound all too comical. Did they think using three instead of one child would give the movie more ”weight’?

I don’t know from where to get my hands on Sweet Destiny. It’s prolly not yet available in Pakistan. Good luck wishing this one to be reeled in on Pakistani cinemas!

Standing Against The Tide – Samad Khurram

What is so special about a bright and young Pakistani student, studying at Harvard, coming in front of a large audience being covered by the national and international media and declare that he will not receive an award from a US ambassador as a sign of protest over the recent unprovoked attack against our Armed Forces inside Pakistan?

EVERYTHING!

Because what Samad has done is something that our politicians don’t have the guts to do in a million years! He stood strong and determined and in his own way snubbed the representative of the United States, calling their recent attack on Pakistani soil as that of a coward.

Bravo Samad! You have made us all proud. While our filthy politicians were too busy taking out long marches and seducing the masses with their political charms and speeches, you have paid homage to those who lost their precious lives by giving a resounding slap to the United States. You are the kind of people we need to lead us on… NOT the Zardaris or Musharrafs or Sharifs or Aitezazs or Iftikhars!

And such a pity that our so called free media conveniently forgot to highlight this story with the acknowledgement it rightly deserved! Nothing new on that front really. Dogs rarely bite the hand that feeds them you see *chuckles*

Please take a minute of your time to send an email to Samad at samadkhurram@gmail.com and congratulate him for his stance!

Thank you Samad. You have made us all proud!

UPDATE [21 June, 2008] One of our regular readers, lestat, was kind enough to provide us with a youtube link of the ceremony. Here’s presenting Samad Khurram’s much talked about stance…

PLEASE NOTE – This particular post on WeCite Blog concerns and deals only with Mr. Khurram’s stance on the recent attacks on Pakistani soldiers and bears no relation to his personal views and opinions on the current state of Pakistani affairs outside the scope of this incident. Readers are requested to keep this in mind and not confuse the two.
