Nearly 80 per cent of the working women in Pakistan are sexually harassed at work places
A survey conducted by the Alliance Against Sexual Harassment at Workplaces (AASHA), a group of NGOs, has found that a staggering 78 per cent of working women had faced sexual harassment at work, while 21 per cent chose not to talk about the topic.
AASHA interviewed nurses, domestic workers, women employees of private and public organisations. Of the nurses interviewed, 58 per cent said they had faced sexual harassment by co-workers, patients or relatives of patients and doctors.
A large number of the women employed in the private sector were also routinely harassed by their bosses. 91 per cent of domestic workers said they were sexually harassed and even raped by their bosses or their relatives and friends. Some were even sold to strangers for a night!
And we call ourselves an ‘Progressive’ Islamic Republic. What a shame.

So sad.
Sexual harassment at work is such a critical problem in developing nations. In Pakistan, women are subjected to such cruelty using ego, religion, traditions, culture, honor, and what not as an excuse. There is a dire need for a change in the way women think and function. We are no less than our male counterparts and the sooner we realize this, the better. A woman can be as weak as she allows herself to be.
this is for Fatima’s posting. I disagree with ur view to the extent that it is not a fault on the part of the Women, i think it has one thing to do with poverty. when one is left with little chance of finding an alternative career and the person has to stick, the Undue desires will have to be fulfilled. and that is the dilemma.
Provide Alternatives, Observe a Sharp change.
